Heather is the founding architect at HHEAL, Heather Hoeksema Environmental Arts Lab. Ms. Hoeksema has been involved in the practice and academia of architecture and fine art for over 20 years.
Patricia and her husband Steve live in Lincoln Park in Chicago in a 100 year old row house. They both travel extensively for work, so their kitchen has become their hearth for getting together and catching up with friends.
"With Heather's clever and well thought through design my husband and I were able to update our kitchen and historical row house aesthetic, improve the ergonomic relationships, open our cooking experience up to our entire second level for gatherings with friends, and enjoy a bright new and absolutely delightful culinary environment."
Scott works for a Los Angeles based company with over one billion dollars in assets. He's worked with Heather directly on their personal offices, specifically on the main office lounge area.
"Heather's design and art work for our office lobby was executed effectively and the process engaged and represented the desires of our office community. She conveyed her concepts clearly and visually with her artistic sensibility and shaped the most unique space in our entire office building."
Sue and Jon were Heather's first patrons. They acquired her painting called 'Horizon' from a gallery in Michigan 10 years ago and still show it on their feature wall in their home.
"Unencumbered by distracting detail, we find Heather’s painting at once quietly meditative and powerfully exuberant. Her creative and complex layering of intense, saturated color provide the viewer a journey of endless discoveries. We never tire of the beauty and emotion Heather expressed in this work of art.
Sy has been an artist/ painter for over 50 years, well known in the Midwest. He's shown and taught extensively. He was the solo artist shown in tandem with the Carlyn Gallery renovation by Ms. Hoeksema in Grand Haven, Michigan.
"Heather put together a beautiful space to show my aerial paintings. As a curator of the gallery's exhibit, she conveyed a concept about my work that was thoughtful and expressive, the design of the space and the video production of my painting process."
Anders has been involved with the education of architects for over 20 years. He held the Chair position for the Architecture Program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He hired Ms. Hoeksema for her first teaching position in architecture at SAIC.
"As an accomplished practitioner and businesswoman as well as an experienced teacher, Heather provided an important role model for our young students of architecture. She was able to bring her professional work to bear on her class syllabi and assignments in a way that inspired her students to reach for more than is normally possible in a school environment."
Mark is CEO of his family owned corporation that specializes in educational media. He is currently retiring, and spends most of his vacation time in his home in the Rocky Mountains.
"Heather did a great job in helping me curate art for my new home in Breckenridge. Her eye for what was needed was invaluable to finishing off the interior space. I still get compliments from friends and family on the beautiful oil paintings she suggested for key rooms. I would recommend Heather to anyone who needed a special eye for finishing off their home with authentic fine art."
Todd is a contractor in the Rocky Mountains and has building and renovating houses for two decades. He considers Ms. Hoeksema's work on their Bridge House project to have set a new standard for architecture in the mountains.
"I have yet to see a design and set of construction documents as thorough and clear as what Heather provided for a large scale mountain house addition and renovation I built in 2008. Her up front efforts with the clients and construction documents streamlined the building process, saving time and money for everyone involved."
Erik started his career in the Rocky Mountains over a decade ago photographing and filming extreme sports. He's now one of the most noted celebrity photographers in Los Angeles. He collaborates with Ms. Hoeksema for photographing environmental projects and has had a number of fine art shows with HHEAL Gallery.
